In order to focus on the national major development strategy, improve the independent and controllable ability of the industrial chain, and expand the application field of textile equipment, on the afternoon of April 1, the seminar on high-performance carbon fiber and composite material technology and equipment was held in Shaoxing, Zhejiang. The conference attracted more than 100 industry experts, enterprise representatives and heads of scientific research institutions to discuss the high-quality development path of carbon fiber industry chain technology and equipment.

Leadership speech, looking forward to the future

Xu Yingxin, vice president of the China Textile Industry Federation and president of the Textile Industry Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said that China's high-performance fiber industry has made a major breakthrough, and the total production capacity of carbon fiber in 2024 will reach 140,000 tons, accounting for one third of the world, and T800-T1100 high-end products will achieve large-scale production. In 2024, the export volume is expected to reach 15,000 tons, an increase of 120% year-on-year, and the international competitiveness is significantly enhanced. Landmark progress has been made in making complete sets of equipment independent, giving strong support to the development of strategic industries such as aerospace.

Xu Yingxin also proposed five high-quality development measures for the challenges faced by the development of high-performance fibers: First, breakthrough core technology: increase investment in key elements, strengthen independent innovation, and seize the right to speak the standard; Second, improve equipment efficiency: the application of intelligent manufacturing and advanced materials to improve operational stability and product consistency; Third, deepen collaborative innovation: strengthen the integration of industry, university and research and cross-industry chain collaboration to accelerate the transformation of scientific research results; Fourth, cultivating professional talents: relying on major scientific and technological projects, cultivating compound and applied talents; Fifth, expand international cooperation: integrate high-quality international resources and promote high-quality transnational cooperation.

Sun Guojun, chairman of Zhejiang Seiko Integrated Technology Co., LTD., said in his speech that Seiko has been deeply engaged in the field of carbon fiber for more than ten years and has successfully built the whole industrial chain system from equipment research and development to application. The 5,000-ton carbon fiber equipment independently developed by the company has achieved high-end and intelligent, filled the domestic gap and reached the international leading level, breaking the foreign technology monopoly.

Sun Guojun said that Seiko Technology led the establishment of Zhejiang high performance carbon fiber equipment composite material manufacturing innovation center, through key common technology research, achievement transformation and talent training, to provide a strong driving force for the development of the industry. Enterprises are also accelerating their international layout, establishing overseas service centers and companies, expanding high-end markets such as aerospace, national defense and military industries, and enhancing the international competitiveness of domestic equipment. He hopes that in the future, the whole industry will collaborate on innovation, share results, jointly explore the international market, and promote China's carbon fiber industry to a new stage of high-quality development.

Keynote report, leading the trend

Zhu Meifang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the National Key Laboratory of Advanced Fiber Materials of Donghua University, pointed out in the theme report "Structural and Functional integration of carbon dimension Research and development and application" that carbon fiber as a national strategic material, its development level is directly related to the core competitiveness of the country. China has built the world's most complete high-performance fiber industry system, and the scale of the three high-performance fiber industries ranks among the top in the world.

Zhu Meifang stressed that the carbon fiber industry is facing major development opportunities: in the application field, it is expected that the demand for wind power blades will reach 30,000 tons in 2025, the carbon fiber consumption of C919 large aircraft will account for 11.5%, and the next generation of CR929 models will increase to 50%; In terms of emerging areas, humanoid robots, commercial aerospace and low-altitude economy will become important growth points. She proposed the development direction of "structural and functional integration", and proposed to promote the upgrading of carbon fiber to multi-functional composite materials through ESG concept and intelligent manufacturing, and provide support for the high-quality development of the new material industry.

Beijing University of Chemical Technology professor Xu Lianghua in the "Domestic high-performance carbon fiber development status and the next stage of planning proposals" report pointed out that China has established the world's largest polyacrylonitrile-based carbon fiber industry system, 2019 to 2023, the production capacity increased by 5.16 times, 2023 to 2024, the capacity added 12,000 tons. Although the problem of equipment localization has been basically solved, the industry still faces outstanding problems such as process homogenization, insufficient capacity release rate, and low-quality and low-price competition.

Xu Lianghua stressed that the core issue affecting the market-oriented application of domestic carbon fiber has shifted from price to quality. He proposed the development direction of "improving quality and efficiency", focusing on new quality elements such as wool amount, extensibility and wear resistance, and suggested that equipment upgrading be the starting point to promote the transformation of the industry from "accelerating production" to "improving quality and efficiency". In particular, he pointed out that the carbon fiber industry needs to establish a traction R & D model with equipment design units as the leader, through the construction of standard systems and new technology research and development, to solve the problem of "easy to use" products, and truly realize the transformation from "selling out" to "using out".
